In this episode, we chat about Black Women Leading! We have an in-depth discussion about the narrative of the black women leading and the various stereotypes (i.e. Angry/Strong Black Woman) we‘re labeled as when we challenge the status quo, or exhibit a particular level of leadership. Black Women are leading in their homes, communities, and churches but struggle for a “seat at the table” at work. Women of Color remain underrepresented in Leadership Positions. Currently, there are no black women running Fortune 500 firms.
We also discuss our roles as leaders in our professional lives, and how being the “head of the household” impacts the dynamics of our personal relationships. We share our thoughts and views on submission, as well as the importance of knowing when to “pivot”.
Call to action:
- Learn and understand when to pivot at home, at work, and also in relationships with your significant others/spouses
- Find opportunities to learn and develop leadership skills (First key step to leadership is learning, “how to be a great follower”)
- Learn to listen to your instinct
